Job Description
Qualifications:
The Animal and Veterinary Science Aide shall have at least a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education. At least 2 years experience in veterinary clinic setting DVM or Registered Veterinary Tech. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational communications and public relations skills and will be able to work with students staff and the public. The candidate shall have a minimal knowledge and experience with large animal care handling and behavior.
Duties:
- Performs non-teaching classroom and student support services under the direct supervision of the teacher.
- Assists the teacher with testing of students for skills testing.
- Assists students with lab duties including cleaning and sanitizing cages feeding animals and safely handling the animals.
- Assists the teacher and students with events adoptions and calamity day animal care.
- Attend field trips as needed.
- Assist with surgery and veterinary care of animals.
- Assist with paperwork and animals.
- Exemplifies professionalism that advances the districts public image.
- Helps students understand/embrace ethical conduct and values.
- Takes initiative to perform routine tasks independently.
- Maintains open/effective communications.
- Keeps current with technology and other skills associated with work assignments.
- Takes precautions to ensure safety.
- Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Contract: 2025-2026contract for 190 contracted days (prorated to start date) during the school year 7 hours per day including a hour unpaid lunch..
Salary: Placement on the Appropriate Educational Aide Adopted Salary Schedule.
