Opening New Facility Mid-September 2024Peer Mentor-Sober Living | Department: | Clinical | Location: | Topeka | Reports To: | Director of Sober Living Services | Created Date: | June 2023 | FLSA Status: | Non-exempt | Revised Date: | May 2024 | Schedule: | 8am 5pm; Mon-Fri | Category: | In-person | Position Summary | Under the direction of a Licensed Addictions Counselor or Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor the Recovery Coach provides non-clinical services intended to aid individuals in establishing and maintaining individual and family recovery from chronic and several alcohol and other drug problems and to improve the quality of recovery. While the position will have documentation reviewed by a Licensed Addiction Counselor they will be directly supervised by the Director of Sober Living Services. | Essential Duties and Responsibilities | - Regular and predictable attendance.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures relating to clinical licensure.
- Provides information on health and wellness issues and provides educational assistance in acquiring new skills.
- Responsible for leading and documenting on recovery support and wellness groups.
- Assists patients/family members in crisis as needed.
- Assists patients individually and in group settings in developing an Individual Wellness Recovery Action Plan discharge planning utilizing community resources.
- Assists patients in acquiring life skills and employment readiness.
- Assists patients in understanding and applying for housing resources.
- Assists patients in establishing and developing hobbies and interests that are supportive of their recovery.
- Completes documentation in patients Electronic Health Record timely and efficiently.
- Assists in the process of maintaining patient charts in a site visit ready manner at all times.
- Provides patients with information linking them to transportation resources.
- Provides empathy and understanding when working with patients experiencing the chronic disease of addiction.
- Attend offsite appointments or meetings regularly to advocate for patients and/or the program.
- Participation in weekly team meetings.
- Helps patients to modify attitudes and patterns of behavior by increasing accountability and understanding of triggers and coping strategies.
- Develops discharge/transition plans and completes related paperwork when required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum 2 years demonstrated personal recovery experience. | Computer Skills | To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and Word Processing software. | Certificates Licenses and Registrations | - Current valid Kansas Drivers License.
- Certified as a Peer Recovery Support Mentor (Recovery Coach) through Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services.
