Job Description
Transylvania University invites applications for the position of Beck Center Manager for the
upcoming academic year. This is a part-time position that is paid hourly from September through
May. Multiple manager positions (approximately 2-3) will be hired to maximize needed coverage
in the Beck Center.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assisting the Director of Fitness &
Operations and Coordinator of Fitness with the organization and management of the Beck
Center. Specific responsibilities include overseeing the control desk and fitness center track
and gyms within the building; understanding of the emergency action plan and how to activate it;
ensuring all patrons are using the facility safely; monitoring the well-being of all guests/patrons;
cleaning of equipment flooring and other spaces and other duties as assigned.
This position is paid $12 per hour. Most hours will be rotated among managers and will be within
the hours of 3:30-9 PM Monday through Thursday 3:30-5:30 PM on Friday and 10 AM-1 PM on
Saturdays. There may be opportunities for hours from 7-9 AM Monday through Friday morning.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess and demonstrate excellent
communication and organizational skills dependability good work ethic and self-motivation the
ability and willingness to be a positive role model and representative of the institution. CPR/First
Aid certification is required and can be obtained after the hiring process. This position reports to
and works directly with the Director of Fitness. Anticipated start date is September 2 2025 for
training and will conclude at the end of May.
