We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant with a strong background in commercial real estate accounting. This role involves managing the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of retail office and industrial properties. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in MRI Software and bring deep expertise in Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations lease interpretation and financial reporting.
This is a hands-on position that requires excellent analytical technical and communication skills. The successful candidate will collaborate with property management teams and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial performance reporting compliance with GAAP standards and effective budget/forecast processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties (retail office and industrial).
Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial reports including variance analysis.
Perform CAM reconciliations and recoveries with accuracy and timeliness.
Review lease agreements to ensure proper billing and compliance with lease terms.
Process journal entries accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
Partner with property management teams to support budgeting and forecasting processes.
Maintain compliance with internal controls and GAAP standards.
Utilize MRI Software extensively for all accounting and reporting functions.
Support senior management with special financial projects and ad-hoc analysis.
Assist with third-party auditors and tax professionals during audit and tax cycles.
5 years of experience in commercial real estate accounting (retail office or industrial properties).
Hands-on expertise with MRI Software (required).
Strong understanding of CAM reconciliations and lease accounting.
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (preferred).
Advanced Excel skills with ability to analyze and present data effectively.
Excellent attention to detail organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
Must reside in Orange County or adjacent Los Angeles County.
Ability to work on-site Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
