Job Description
Cloud Security Architect
Cloud Security Architect role in the insurance sector. Shape secure cloud-first solutions in a high-impact enterprise environment. Leverage AWS IAM and modern application security tools to design and oversee robust architectures. Hybrid work model with required on-site presence in Markham Ontario.
What is in it for you:
Salaried: $90-95 per hour.
Incorporated Business Rate: $104-109 per hour.
6-month contract with the potential for permanent employment.
Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.
Hybrid model 3 days per week on-site.
Attendance on Tuesday and Wednesday is mandatory.
Responsibilities:
Define and implement secure architecture solutions within AWS environments.
Ensure designs align with corporate IT strategy availability security and performance standards.
Collaborate with product owners platform teams and architects to embed security by design into projects.
Evaluate recommend and support security technologies including AWS Security Hub AWS Config GuardDuty IAM and other AWS-native tools.
Manage endpoint protection with CrowdStrike tools such as Falcon Complete Insight and Prevent.
Oversee IAM and B2B authentication solutions including Intra ID and OKTA.
Ensure integration of application security tools including Dynatrace.
Create cost-benefit and risk assessments to support investment decisions.
Develop and document architectural design artefacts for stakeholder review.
Conduct risk analysis and security assessments to identify and mitigate threats.
Lead and contribute to internal architecture and design governance processes.
Coach junior team members and contribute to architecture community practices.
Collaborate with external vendors and stay current on security trends and technologies.
Maintain compliance with architectural governance frameworks and roadmaps.
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
What you will need to succeed:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering or related discipline.
AWS Certified Security Specialty CISSP or CCSP certification (preferred).
Proven experience designing security solutions in AWS environments.
Strong knowledge of IAM/IGA solutions including OKTA and Intra ID.
Experience with cloud-native and modern application architecture.
Direct hands-on experience managing security infrastructure including firewalls WAFs endpoint protection SIEM and log management tools.
Familiarity with vulnerability management solutions.
Expertise with AWS security services such as Security Hub Config GuardDuty IAM and Macie.
Experience with application security tools such as Dynatrace.
Knowledge of endpoint security practices using CrowdStrike.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience coaching and mentoring team members.
Leadership skills and stakeholder management experience.
Ability to balance short-term project demands with long-term strategic goals.
Must be willing and able to work extended hours when necessary to support project needs.
