Job Summary

Timmons Group is currently seeking an experienced Land Development Project Manager to join our growing team in Newport News VA. If youre passionate about civil engineering client success and mentoring future talent we want to hear from you. As a Project Manager youll take ownership of exciting land development projects from concept through construction.

We assist our clients with zoning entitlements civil site plan approvals and construction administration support.  Our project engineers will typically work in a team of 2-3 design engineers and a project manager to bring our clients vision to life.  The complexity and fast paced nature of our clients needs creates a dynamic environment for our team members and fosters a culture of teamwork diverse training opportunities and builds a sense of ownership in the successful outcome of the project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Designing project components using Civil 3D and other industry-standard tools.
  • Performing engineering calculations and solving real-world challenges.
  • Preparing technical specifications and construction documents.
  • Developing cost estimates and managing project budgets.
  • Collaborating with clients internal teams and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Leading and mentoring junior engineers and technical staff.

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • Active P.E. license in Virginia and/or one or more states in which Timmons Group conducts business (or ability to obtain).
  • 610 years of civil engineering experience with a focus on land development.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects budgets and schedules simultaneously.
  • Strong client relationship and business development skills.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and other relevant design software.
