Job Title: UI/UX Web Designer
Job Type: Contract- Full Time
Job Schedule: Mon-Fri 40-hours/week *This role will be an ON-SITE position.
Job Location: Downtown Houston TX *Interested candidates MUST live in the HOUSTON area.
Hourly Pay: $25-$35/hour *Depending on experience.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled UI/UX Web Designer to support the enhancement of our digital platforms including our public-facing website and internal intranet. This role will focus on improving user experience accessibility and design consistency across platforms. Experience working in the public sector or government environments is highly desirable.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand user needs and translate them into intuitive design solutions.
- Conduct user research usability testing and data analysis to inform design decisions.
- Design wireframes mockups and prototypes for website and intranet updates.
- Ensure designs align with accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG) and government digital service guidelines.
- Provide guidance on UX best practices and contribute to the development of design systems.
- Work closely with developers and content teams to implement and refine designs.
- Identify opportunities to reinforce and streamline digital platform functionality.
Requirements
- A Bachelors degree in Graphic Design Computer Science or a related field.
- Proven experience in UI/UX design preferably in public sector or government settings.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma Adobe XD Sketch or similar.
- Strong understanding of responsive design accessibility standards and user-centered design principles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with government websites intranet systems and digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a structured environment.
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS and CMS platforms is a plus.
