Job Description
The Payment Operations Risk & Controls Senior Specialist at Wise is responsible for identifying and managing operational risks and controls within the Payment Operations team. This role involves collaborating with various teams including operational product compliance and risk teams to assess mitigate and monitor risks. The specialist will focus on driving a risk-aware culture ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and enhancing risk management processes across the organization. The position requires a strategic mindset strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Responsibilities:
Help teams analyze new and existing products and operational processes assessing risks and working with stakeholders to reduce risks to acceptable level;
Proactively identify risks inefficiencies and improvement opportunities and initiating strategic projects to address them.
Independently execute various risk-related tasks such as monitoring controls conducting risk assessments analyzing data and investigating potential issues.
Assess and test existing controls working with stakeholders to improve existing controls and implement new ones;
Ensure compliance with Regulation E in Payment Operations. Supporting the operational teams on how to interpret regulatory requirements improving processes and our product to avoid regulatory breaches and/or incidents.
Drive risk awareness across Payment Operations and ensuring alignment across the whole organization. Promoting and helping embed a strong risk culture making risk meaningful and relevant to everyone at Wise.
Work cross functionally with various other teams in Wise including Group Risk Compliance Product Finance Treasury;
Drive risk mitigation projects and ensure their timely completion. Ownership of issue remediation activities using our risk management tool (Audit Board) to ensure appropriate risk focused prioritization.
Perform monitoring routines over various topics reporting the results.
