Job Description

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $62868.00-$72298.00.

The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.

ACS Nicholas Scoppetta Childrens Center (NSCC) is a 24-hour shift-based operation providing services for New York Citys highly vulnerable population of abused and/or neglected children who have been removed from their parents/caregivers. On average the Childrens Center serves approximately 2500 unique children entering or re-entering the foster care system as they await transition to return home stay with kin or placement in longer-term foster care settings.

Within NSCC the Social WorkQI Unit was built to meet the mandate of the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) which took effect on September 29 2021. The Qualified Individual and Child and Family Specialist (QI CFS) in accordance with the FFPSA conducts and completes the evidence-based Child and Adolescent Services Intensity Instrument (CAS II) to assess service intensity needs for children and youth who may or require placement into Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) setting in the City of New York. QI CFS conduct initial QI assessments for children and youth placed in a QRTP and Long Stayer Reviews (LSR) for children and youth who may require consideration for extension in a QRTP.

Under supervision of the Clinical Manager the QI Coordinator will support the administrative needs of the Childrens Center Qualified Individual (QI) team for children/placed in a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) placement. The coordinator will also support the QI/CFS to ensure that cases are processed accurately and timely according to office procedures and the appropriate state regulations.

The duties and responsibilities of the Qualified Individual Coordinator will include but will not be limited to:

- Schedule track and document court hearings and case conferences.

- Provide administrative assistance by researching documents system databases and escalating complex requests to the Clinical Manager.

- Liaise with multiple community resources to support QI level of care decision-making and make appropriate community referrals.

- Review case documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and local regulations.

- Aid providers when required and review submission of documents for completeness.

- Maintain Control Logs with relevant residential status information.

- Liaise with the Office of Placement Administration Intake units staff provider agencies and stakeholders.

- Assist with implementing special projects requiring information on child- specific cases and administrative preparation for complex case conferences.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
