Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity

We are seeking a Technician to join the Department of Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering.

In this role you will play a key part in supporting the Reversing Carbon Emissions Project by providing specialist technical support to research staff and students. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining experimental facilities assisting with testing in carbon mineralisation and supporting the safe and efficient operation of laboratory activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting lab inductions and ensuring safe access for students and researchers.
  • Performing maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
  • Managing laboratory consumables chemicals and equipment purchasing.
  • Assisting with experimental setups data collection and analysis.
  • Coordinating external testing services (e.g. DSC TGA SEM).
  • Developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensuring compliance with health safety and sustainability policies.

This is a part-time fixed-term position for 5 months working 18.75 hours per week.

The salary for this role is $62400 - $77800 per annum prorated.
