Machine Learning Engineer Data-Driven Safety in a Dynamic Hub
Location: Amsterdam Area Type: Full-time

Your Challenge
As a Machine Learning Engineer on our Security & Safety Technology team you are the driving force behind the next generation of security solutions. You dont just work with data; you transform complex data streams into essential insights that ensure the safety and flow of hundreds of thousands of people daily. You will take the lead in bringing our smart data-driven products from prototype to a robust production environment.
What you will do:
You will translate the technical vision of the AI team into robust scalable solutions.
You will design implement and maintain data-intensive applications on our advanced Data & AI platform (Azure Databricks Kubernetes).
You will take a steering role in productionizing ML models monitoring their quality and performance.
Together with data scientists and solution architects you will design the optimal technical roadmap and break it down into concrete prioritized tasks.
You will continuously improve our software development lifecycle and best practices from CI/CD to monitoring.
Your Team & Development
You will be part of the multidisciplinary Security Insights product team (80% of your time) and the overarching AI Capability team (20% of your time). This unique model guarantees that you not only build deep expertise within your own domain but also continue to learn from 35 other data specialists working on entirely different challenges across the organization. Its the perfect balance between focus and professional growth.
Your Tech Stack
Platform: Azure
Data & AI: Databricks (PySpark) Python
Orchestration & Deployment: Kubernetes/OpenShift Docker Helm Airflow
Infra-as-Code: Experience is a must (Terraform is a plus)
Monitoring: Experience is a must (Splunk is a plus)
Your Profile You are a builder who not only writes code but also contributes to the architecture and long-term vision. You are a team player who knows how to inspire others.
What you bring to the table (Must-haves):
A completed Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science Mathematics).
A minimum of 3 years of experience building and managing machine learning solutions in a production environment.
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Databricks and (Py)Spark.
Demonstrable experience with containerization (Kubernetes/OpenShift Docker).
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
You are fluent in English.
Bonus points for:
Experience with Infra-as-Code tools like Terraform or Databricks Asset Bundles.
Experience setting up monitoring and alerting (e.g. with Splunk).
Proficiency in Dutch.
