o Preparing and reviewing various tax returns (Income tax corporate tax
GST TCS under GST etc.) accurately and on time.
o Ensuring adherence to all federal state and local tax laws and
regulations.
o Maintaining thorough and accurate documentation to support tax filings
and audits.
o Responding to inquiries and correspondence from tax authorities.
o Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation and assessing their
impact on the organization or clients.
Tax Planning and Strategy:
o Identifying tax-saving opportunities and strategies within the legal
framework.
o Providing advice on the tax implications of business transactions
initiatives and decisions (e.g. mergers acquisitions new product
launches).
o Developing and implementing tax-efficient structures and processes.
o Forecasting tax payments and liabilities.
Tax Accounting and Reporting:
o Reconciling tax liability accounts to the general ledger.
o Preparing tax provisions for financial statements.
o Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes related to
tax.
o Analyzing financial data to determine tax obligations and identify
discrepancies.
Tax Audits and Dispute Resolution:
o Assisting with tax audits by gathering necessary documentation and
providing explanations for tax positions.
o Liaising with tax authorities during routine audits and ad-hoc inquiries.
o Supporting the resolution of tax disputes.
Process Improvement and Technology:
o Identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement in
tax procedures.
o Utilizing tax software (e.g. ERP systems like Microsoft Dynamics or
specialized tax tools) to streamline tax preparation and compliance.
o Ensuring all aspects of tax transactions are captured correctly in
systems.
Specific Responsibilities by Position Level:
Tax Associate/Analyst:
o Primarily focused on data entry reconciliation and preparation of basic
tax returns under supervision.
o Assisting with tax research and organizing tax documents.
o Learning tax software and tools.
o May handle routine inquiries from tax authorities.
Tax Accountant:
o Prepares a wider range of tax payments and returns (quarterly and
annual).
o Estimates and tracks tax returns.
o Organizes and updates the company's tax database.
o Identifies tax savings and suggests ways to increase profits.
o Liaises with internal and external auditors.
Qualifications :
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
(Master's in Taxation or CPA/CA/ACCA preferred for higher roles).
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of direct tax laws (income tax
corporate tax) and indirect tax laws (GST) relevant to the jurisdiction(s) of
operation.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial
data identify tax issues and develop effective solutions.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to ensure accuracy in tax
calculations and filings.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication to
explain complex tax concepts to non-technical individuals and interact with tax
authorities and stakeholders.
Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software Excel and ERP
systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics) and specialized tax software.
Time Management and Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks meet
tight deadlines and maintain organized records.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (finance
legal operations).
