Job Description
1 month contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
A seasonal opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Gardener to join a grounds maintenance team responsible for various public and residential spaces.
This temporary role focuses on delivering high standards of horticultural work using a variety of manual and powered tools and equipment.
The successful candidate will take pride in their work and contribute to the upkeep of key green spaces across the area.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Carry out general gardening and grounds maintenance duties including grass cutting pruning and hedge trimming.
Operate pedestrian and ride-on mowing equipment safely and efficiently.
Perform manual handling tasks such as lifting bending and stretching.
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of work areas ensuring all sites are left tidy.
Assist in the upkeep of sheltered housing schemes verges and other community green spaces.
Follow health and safety guidelines while using gardening tools and machinery.
Work as part of a team to ensure seasonal targets are met.
Liaise professionally with colleagues and members of the public where required.
Skills/Experience:
Previous experience in grounds maintenance or horticulture.
Ability to operate mowing machinery (pedestrian and ride-on).
Strong understanding of safe manual handling techniques.
Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Team player with a good eye for detail and high standards of cleanliness.
Excellent time management and the ability to work independently.
Additional Information:
The closing date: 22/08/2025.
Full UK driving licence.
