Job Description

2 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
A temporary opportunity has arisen for a Site Technician to support the day-to-day management and maintenance of a children s residential unit.
The role involves working closely with residential staff to ensure the building remains safe compliant and well-maintained.
This position plays a vital part in the smooth operation of the site during a period of staff absence.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across the building and site.
Ensure health and safety procedures are always adhered to.
Conduct routine site checks to identify and resolve potential issues.
Oversee and log statutory compliance checks (e.g. fire safety water testing emergency lighting).
Liaise with property services and external contractors when required.
Support the residential team with facilities-related matters.
Maintain site cleanliness security and operational readiness.
Report any hazards or repair needs promptly to the relevant teams.

Skills/Experience:
Previous experience in facilities caretaking or site maintenance roles.
Understanding of building compliance requirements (e.g. fire water H&S checks).
Good practical skills in DIY and basic repairs.
Strong awareness of safeguarding and confidentiality especially in a residential care environment.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Good communication skills and ability to work alongside care teams.
Organised and reliable with strong attention to detail.
Basic IT literacy for recording compliance tasks or reporting faults.

Previous experience in facilities, caretaking, or site maintenance roles. Understanding of building compliance requirements (e.g., fire, water, H&S checks).
