Job Title: Secondary/Protection Engineer

Responsibilities
- Design develop and implement secondary systems and protection systems for transmission and substation projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards local regulations and project specifications.
- Perform detailed protection design calculations including coordination studies and relay settings.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings such as one-line diagrams schematics wiring diagrams and protection panels.
- Support testing commissioning and troubleshooting of protection systems during construction and implementation phases.
- Provide technical expertise for system upgrades modernizations and expansions.
- Ensure all designs account for reliability safety and operational efficiency.
- Review and evaluate vendor documents and specifications for equipment compatibility.
- Stay updated on the latest trends technologies and best practices in secondary systems and protection design.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Masters degree is a plus).
- Proven experience in transmission and substation secondary and protection design.
- Strong knowledge of protective relaying relay coordination and power system analysis.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools such as AutoCAD ETAP Aspen or similar.
- Familiarity with standards and regulations such as IEEE NERC and local utility practices.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification is preferred or the ability to obtain one within a defined time frame.
Day-to-Day
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.
- Develop and review detailed engineering drawings and documentation.
- Perform analysis and simulations to ensure optimal functionality of secondary and protection systems.
- Provide technical support to project teams in the field for commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
- Participate in team meetings design reviews and strategy sessions.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of equipment.
- Actively contribute to improving workflows methodologies and design standards to maintain excellence.
