About Us

We are seeking a Research Engineer to join the AI for Education team in London. This is a high-impact role with direct influence on how we design measure and improve the pedagogical capabilities of our large AI models. You will join a team working to build the next generation of evaluation platforms and methodologies exploring model capabilities and advancing the infrastructure used by researchers and engineers working on AI for learning.

Our interdisciplinary team has deep expertise in modern AI models evaluation with human subjects product development and learning science. The Role

Research Engineers at Google DeepMind are the bridge between ambitious research ideas and functional large-scale systems. They work in close collaboration with Research Scientists to design and build the infrastructure models and tools necessary to drive groundbreaking research.

For the AI for Education team this means building robust scalable evaluation pipelines designing and implementing novel measurement techniques and developing the frameworks that allow us to rigorously test and understand the pedagogical capabilities of our models. As a Research Engineer you will be instrumental to transforming research hypotheses into tangible experiments. Your contributions will enable the team to make rapid empirically-driven progress towards AI systems that can safely and effectively support learners everywhere. You will work with the rest of the team on our ethical participatory approach to particular you will actively collaborate with student and teacher communities to ensure we ground our research in their needs goals and values.
