Machine Shop Manager
Location: Newport NH
Schedule: MondayFriday 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
Compensation: $100000 $115000
Were looking for a Machine Shop Manager to lead daily operations in a 50-person shop specializing in both metal CNC and manual machining. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment enjoys solving problems on the floor and knows how to balance people leadership with production demands.
What Youll Do
- Oversee day-to-day shop operations ensuring safety quality and on-time delivery.
- Lead mentor and develop machinists and supervisors while fostering a collaborative culture.
- Manage scheduling workflow and resource allocation using ERP/MRP systems.
- Monitor tooling materials and machine utilization to optimize efficiency.
- Review engineering drawings and GD&T to maintain precision and quality standards.
- Drive Lean/5S/continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations.
- Collaborate with engineering quality and supply chain teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Track performance metrics (production quality delivery) and act on trends.
What You Bring
- 5 years of machining experience (CNC and manual required).
- 2 years in a leadership role (supervisory or management preferred).
- Strong knowledge of tooling materials and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP scheduling systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Background with Lean 5S or Six Sigma practices a plus.
- Strong decision-making organizational and communication skills.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly.
