Position Overview

This position serves as the Senior Technical Advisor for Server OS and Cloud Compute for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) providing expert technical assistance advice and guidance regarding the highly complex program aspects of all Midrange Wintel systems including cloud services (e.g. Azure AWS Google) and in the functionality of and interaction between all Midrange Wintel this role you will conduct and coordinate in-depth enterprise-wide management studies involving extensive technical research and systems analysis. Additionally you will provide highly complex technical assistance to clients and technicians. - Under administrative direction serves as the Senior Technical Advisor for Server OS and Cloud Compute for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) providing expert technical assistance advice and guidance to the unit manager regarding the highly complex program aspects of all Midrange Wintel systems including cloud services (e.g. Azure Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google) and in the functionality of and interaction between all Midrange Wintel systems.
- Performs highly complex research installations systems generations configurations testing and implementation of software and operating systems and coordinates and conducts in-depth enterprise-wide management studies involving extensive technical research and systems analysis of agency Information Technology functions that are of major scope and impact.
- Provides highly complex technical assistance to clients and technicians pertaining to software and operating systems including Microsoft Windows servers Active Directory (AD) Group Policies SharePoint Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) desktop packages installation of software packages Citrix Internet Information Server (IIS) SQL Server VMware.
- Serves as a technical project lead and coordinator for multiple major and highly complex projects within the unit and identifies and discusses projects with the unit manager writing IT studies/analysis proposals plans and requirements studies and offers resolutions to problem areas.
- Utilizes expert knowledge of TCP/IP to administer network communication concepts and principles including server/client network configurations routers routing protocols switches firewalls VPN and Internet in performing problem diagnostics of highly complex operating systems and server connectivity issues and recommending and implementing corrective action.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms meetings training sessions seminars and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products vendors techniques and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
- Requires five (5) years of professional experience with System Services or a related Information Technology field.
Specialized Skills
- Requires five (5) years of professional experience administering and supporting enterprise-level Microsoft Windows Server environments including integration with cloud platforms such as Azure AWS or Google Cloud.
- Requires five (5) years of professional experience designing deploying and maintaining automated software installation and configuration processes for Windows Servers and Windows desktops including use of tools such as SCCM and Group Policy.
- Requires five (5) years of professional experience developing reviewing and evaluating complex technical bid proposals RFPs and procurement requirements for large-scale IT infrastructure projects.
- Requires five (5) years of professional experience leading or coordinating enterprise-wide IT infrastructure projects including experience developing project plans assigning tasks monitoring progress and ensuring timely delivery of results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years of professional experience administering and supporting enterprise-level Microsoft Windows Server environments including integration with cloud platforms such as Azure AWS or Google Cloud.

- Five (5) years of professional experience serving as a Technical Advisor or subject matter expert providing guidance on infrastructure architecture system integration and a platform optimization for large-scale or enterprise-wide IT systems.
- Five (5) years of professional experience conducting in-depth technical research and system analysis to evaluate emerging technologies and their impact on existing IT environments with a focus on performance availability and scalability
- Five (5) years of professional experience implementing and optimizing enterprise server and application environments using virtualization platforms (e.g. VMware) Active Directory IIS Citrix SQL Server and related technologies.
- Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP networking and communication protocols including experience with network design and troubleshooting involving routers switches firewalls VPN and server/client configurations.
- Ability to lead cross-functional technical teams assign and review work and mentor or train staff to ensure consistent performance and project outcomes.
- Developed interpersonal and communication skills to clearly convey complex technical information to diverse audiences while fostering collaboration resolving conflicts and building effective working relationships.
