Job Title: Estimator

FLSA Classification: Exempt / Full-Time

Manager: Chief Estimator

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems construction processes and estimating software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
  • Analyze drawings specifications and other documentation to prepare time cost materials and labor estimates.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning organizing and scheduling work.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time cost materials and labor estimates.
  • Consult with clients vendors and employees in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Confer with engineers architects owners contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover
  • Attend walk-throughs pre-bid and scope clarification meetings
  • Quantitative take-off and computer entry
  • Prepare scope letters and proposals
  • Maintain relationships with customers General Contractors vendors and subcontractors
  • Ability to perform design/build conceptual and budget estimates
  • Ensure documents are centrally saved in the companys drive within the confidential estimating folder(s)
  • Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry standards trends and regulations.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Position Requirements/Preferred Skills Education and Experience

  • 5 years of experience in electrical estimating or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and construction practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have excellent organizational communication strategic technical analytical problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Software Skills

  • Knowledge of Conest Estimating Software preferred.
  • Will use: Bluebeam Egnyte MS Office (Excel Word Outlook Teams) and Cosential CRM software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English cooperate and collaborate with multiple levels of customer employees unions government agencies vendors and suppliers and other contractor organizations.
