Job Description

4 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Care Officer (Children s Services) to provide high-quality care and support to children and young people in a residential setting.
The successful candidate will contribute to creating a safe nurturing and empowering environment where each child s individual care plan is followed and their development is supported.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children with a strong understanding of safeguarding emotional support and collaborative working.

Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people in line with their individual care plans.
Create a respectful safe and inclusive environment where young people feel valued and understood.
Administer personal care while maintaining the dignity and privacy of the young people in your care.
Support the emotional social and behavioural development of children by fostering positive relationships and appropriate boundaries.
Maintain accurate and detailed records including care logs medication administration and incident reports.
Administer medication in accordance with policies and procedures outlined in the care plan.
Participate in appointments outreach support and other external activities as required.
Carry out key responsibilities that support the effective operation of the residential home within legislative and regulatory frameworks.
Use monitoring and administrative systems to help evaluate and improve service delivery.

Skills/Experience:
Experience working with children or young people in a care support or safeguarding environment.
Understanding of child development emotional wellbeing and trauma-informed care.
Knowledge of relevant safeguarding and health & safety legislation.
Able to work effectively as part of a team and build strong trusting relationships with children and colleagues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a calm and empathetic approach.
Organisational skills to manage records medication routines and care procedures.
Flexible and adaptable to meet the varied and sometimes challenging needs of young people.
