The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing negotiating and procuring engineering materials and services to support production and project requirements. The role demands strong knowledge of machining processes mechanical drawings and supplier management to ensure cost-effectiveness timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Raise purchase orders based on requirements and instructions from the Purchase Head.
Monitor procurement activities follow up on material orders and track delivery schedules to ensure on-time supply.
Negotiate with suppliers on pricing payment terms (PDCs) and delivery timelines to achieve optimal procurement value.
Collaborate with engineering production and quality control teams to verify specifications and ensure procurement accuracy.
Develop and maintain strong supplier/vendor relationships while resolving delivery quality or compliance issues.
Conduct supplier evaluations and select reliable vendors for electrical mechanical and industrial materials.
Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Ensure all procurement practices align with company policies ISO standards and industry norms.
Maintain accurate documentation purchase records and supplier performance reports.
Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for timely deliveries including material dispatch inspection and stock liquidation as per procurement plans.
Handle stores with subcontractors including periodic inspections and material arrangements as per POs.
Assist with inspection-related activities and provide inputs to quality teams when required.
Undertake additional procurement-related responsibilities as directed by management.
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (DME) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.E. Mechanical).
Age: 25 35 years.
Experience: 5 to 8 years in procurement preferably in manufacturing/engineering industries.
Strong knowledge of machining processes such as turning milling grinding and sheet metal fabrication.
Good understanding of mechanical engineering drawings.
Working knowledge of heat treatment and value-added processes.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Familiarity with inspection processes (advantageous).
Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost reduction and process efficiency.
Proficiency in MS Office and ERP-based procurement systems.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities across departments.
Ability to manage procurement documentation and reporting with attention to detail.
