Arcadia Exhibitions is seeking to generate a pool of qualified individuals who can assist with the installation take down and transportation of art on the Glenside campus.
Under the supervision of the Director of Arcadia Exhibitions the installer / art handler would assist in the reception of art unpacking preparing condition reports (when applicable) consulting with the Director / Curator on layout and design of exhibitions transport gallery furniture from storage construct shelves pedestals etc. and install work utilizing currently recognized professional methods and standards.
At the conclusion of exhibitions the installer / art handler would take down and pack the work for shipment make any necessary repairs to the walls or gallery furniture return furniture to storage and otherwise prepare the exhibition space for the next show.
This person would be working alongside work study or apprenticeship students in the employ of the program tasked with assisting with the show installs and take downs.
Between installations these individuals may be called upon to perform physical tasks related to the presentation preservation and safe storage of the Universitys permanent collections as well as maintenance of the stockpile of exhibit pedestals shelves and other furniture. Other responsibilities as needed.
Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds climb a ladder and must hold a valid drivers license. (Having a vehicle to assist with transportation of materials is preferred.)
BFA BA in art related field and at least two years experience working in a gallery or museum setting preferred.
