Job Description

High Point Universitys Communication Coordinator supports the Office of Communication by overseeing and executing a variety of high-impact initiatives that enhance the student experience promote the universitys brand and align with institutional goals. This position manages logistics for in-residence guest speakers and PBS Side by Side with Dr. Qubein guests coordinates the universitys microcredentialing and life skills certification program and supports brand engagement through merchandise and gifting initiatives which can include the Arena Team Store. This position will also process invoices.

This role requires exceptional organizational skills strong communication abilities and a proactive mindset to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Communication Marketing Business or a related field required.

Experience and Training:

  • 12 years of experience in project coordination event planning or marketing preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education or communications environments is a plus.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage contracts scheduling and logistics with attention to detail
  • Experience with merchandise planning ordering and inventory tracking
  • Creative problem-solver who can manage shifting priorities
  • Ability to collaborate with internal departments and external vendors
  • Basic understanding of credentialing or co-curricular learning programs preferred
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with a focus on enhancing the student experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Canva Google Suite and basic POS or inventory systems preferred
  • Ability to process invoices

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates all scheduling contracts and logistics for in-residence guest speakers in partnership with university departments.
  • Supports the execution and administration of HPUs Life Skills & Leadership Series including tracking participation and credential completion.
  • Oversees the ordering and distribution of branded merchandise for events programs and gifting initiatives including the Arena Team Store.
  • Orders gifting items for special guests internal recognitions and student-facing programs in alignment with brand standards.
  • Assists with vendor communication and contract coordination related to merchandise events or program materials.
  • Tracks project budgets and timelines to ensure efficient and on-time delivery of program elements.
  • Collaborates closely with colleagues in the Office of Communication as well as partners in academic and student affairs.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Communication Management

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Ensures seamless execution of guest speaker logistics and engagement
  • Maintains accurate inventory and presentation of merchandise and gifting supplies
  • Supports tracking and reporting for microcredentialing and certification initiatives
  • Serves as a liaison between internal teams and external vendors and guests
