The Lubrizol Corporation (Lubrizol) has an opening for an Indian Intellectual Property Counsel to support Lubrizols global business. This role would be based at our Global Capabilities Center in Pune India and will report to the Chief IP Counsel in Wickliffe OH US.
What you will do:
This role will provide in-house counseling to business managers and technical personnel on all intellectual property-related matters including:
- Preparing and prosecuting patent applications for filing in the US India and PCT.
- Conducting and preparing freedom-to-practice studies analyses and opinions regarding third party intellectual property rights.
- Drafting negotiating and managing IP agreements including non-disclosure agreements joint development agreements university agreements consultant agreements trademark agreements and licenses.
- Participating in due diligence regarding M&A.
- Providing effective guidance with regard to IP risks and strategies.
- Conducting competitive analyses of IP landscapes.
- Providing intellectual property compliance training.
- Manage and maintain the Lubrizols patent portfolio in India and abroad
- Communicating and coordinating with IP attorneys in the US and foreign attorneys.
- Providing other assistance and support to the Technology Business and Legal departments as required.
What you need:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree Chemistry or Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- At least 5 years of experience practicing Intellectual Property law in the Chemical and/or Life Science arts in a corporate law department or at a law firm (law firm experience preferred).
- Admitted to practice before the Office of the Controller General of Patents Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM).
- Member in good standing with the Bar Council of India.
- Solid work ethic and commitment to job completion.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team providing timely clear and concise legal advice in order to accomplish the business objectives of the corporation.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects.
- Approximately 15 % travel.
