Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of HR Benefits the Benefits Assistant will support the Human Resources Department by handling administrative and logistical tasks related to employee benefits. The Benefits Assistant focuses on implementing and maintaining designated Human Resources projects and programs as directed ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently. The Benefits Assistant plays a key role in coordinating day-to-day operations supporting office events and maintaining accurate records. A high level of organization and attention to detail is essential to ensure effective support across all benefits-related functions.
Job Duties
- 25% - Assists with the processing and tracking of benefit premium invoices including medical dental vision basic and supplemental life insurance flexible spending accounts supplemental and auxiliary benefits pet insurance COBRA and related administrative tracking duties. - (Essential)
- 20% - Assists with benefit enrollments and deduction setup in the Banner Payroll system provider websites and the internal online benefits administration system. - (Essential)
- 15% - Assists with coordinating wellness events and programs including support for open enrollment activities. - (Essential)
- 15% - Assists with the development of benefits and wellness communications newsletters and other assigned projects. - (Essential)
- 10% - Supports the administration of tuition benefit programs including Tuition Remission and Tuition Exchange. - (Essential)
- 10% - Assists with responding to employee benefit inquiries both in person and via email. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business administration public administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of general office/administrative support experience in a confidential setting that requires attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage benefits related data in an ERP or Benefit Administration System.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel PowerPoint) Google Workspace (Drive Docs Sheets and Slides) Adobe Acrobat etc.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
- Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally in writing and electronically.
- Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.
