Job Summary

Job Description
Leadership Development and Recognition 30%
  • Serve as advisory support to Student United Way student leaders. Support activities of Alternative BreaksCenter for Community Outreach and Student Community Action Corps as relevant.
  • Support planning and facilitation of CSL events including CSL Service Showcase and annual end-of year celebration.
Student Outreach 30%
  • Promote the Certificate in Service Learning and other CSL opportunities through class visits tabling and other outreach activities throughout the year.
Promotion Communication and Technology- 30%
  • Coordinate the posting maintenance and data tracking of community-identified service needs using several online platforms including and Handshake.
  • Facilitate creation of monthly student newsletters.
  • Support social media material development posting and assessment.
Other Duties as Assigned 10%
  • Attend CSL and relevant team meetings.
  • Support documentation and assessment activities.
  • Participate in relevant professional development.

Work Schedule
Up to 20 hours per week. This is an on-campus position working in the Center for Service Learning office located in Summerfield Hall Room 203. Work hours are to be completed Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with occasional evenings and weekends as required by position needs.

  2. Full-time enrollment in a KU graduate program.
  3. Excellent and accurate typing skills excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to complete projects independently with attention to detailas demonstrated in theapplication materials.

Position Overview
The Center for Service Learning collaborates with community and campus partners to develop students into engaged global citizens through experiential learning and civic engagement.

The Center for Service Learning recognizes the importance and impact of community and civic engagement with students. The graduate student hourly will work with the Center staff to support a wide range of activities to assist in advancing community and civic engagement and service-learning at KU including through the promotion of curricular co-curricular and scholarship activities. The graduate student hourly will primarily assist in supporting several student service programs implement outreach that informs KU students on CSL programs and opportunities and broker opportunities for community and civic engagement.
