Description

We are currently seeking a talented compassionate Chaplain to provide supportive spiritual care to patients & families residing in Anne Arundel County position is Part-time with a schedule of 24-hours per week Monday - Friday plus 1 warm holiday/1 cold holiday/year.

Want to join our Team We are currently looking for dedicated Chaplains to join our team. As a Chaplain you will assist with providing care for those with life-limiting illnesses helping patients and their caregivers navigate end-of-life care with compassion. You will work with your teams RN Case Managers Social Workers and Certified Nursing Assistants as well as our Hospice Physicians to provide the physical psychosocial and spiritual aspects of care.

Office Location: Pasadena MD

Coverage Area: Anne Arundel County

Status: Part-time Monday Friday (days vary) 24 hours per week

Salary: Competitive commensurate with experience education and credentialing

Main Responsibilities:

  • Represents spiritual care in IDT meeting and assesses patient/family for spiritual care and provides appropriate documentation.
  • Assesses spiritual needs of patient/family as determined by plan of care and completes spiritual care assessment and documentation according to agency guidelines.
  • Develops individualized interventions and services based on assessment and ensures that a spiritual care plan is developed documented and maintained.
  • Provides pastoral care and counseling to patient/caregivers consistent with the ethics of professional chaplaincy and agency standards of care.
  • Ensures spiritual plan of care is documented and implemented in accordance with established guidelines and Hospice of the Chesapeake policy.
  • Assists in the assessment of family needs for bereavement services and conveys information to bereavement staff.
  • Other specific goals and duties as communicated in your job description and performance goals.

Your Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in theology divinity pastoral ministry spiritual care or equivalent from an accredited educational institution required.
  • Ordained commissioned or endorsed for chaplaincy by a recognized faith group.
  • One (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an accredited training provider/program required (2 or more units preferred).
  • At least five years of work experience in pastoral care or counseling with experience providing care in the family setting preferred.
  • Comfort in an interfaith setting demonstrating familiarity with and understanding of the diversity of religious experiences across cultures and belief systems.
  • Excellent oral written and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and independently.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the dying process.
  • Emotional maturity: ability to cope effectively with stress of continual loss.
  • Understanding of and acceptance of the hospice philosophy.
