Join our team at Cessnock District Hospital as an experienced Visiting Medical Officer in General Practice.
Youll play a crucial role in providing exceptional medical care to our patients in both our inpatient and emergency departments.
As a GP VMO with us youll:
- Deliver high-quality inpatient and emergency department services to ensure the best possible care for our community.
- Offer outpatient consultations and procedures in private practice including participating in after-hours and on-call rotations for round-the-clock medical coverage.
- Attend to accidents and emergencies at our hospital providing basic and advanced resuscitation managing presenting patients and facilitating necessary referrals.
- Handle acute medical emergencies like myocardial infarction pulmonary edema and diabetic ketoacidosis with expert advice and consultation.
- Have the flexibility to work in a general practice setting if desired.
- Benefit from specialist advice through established networks within our Local Health District.
- Provide essential reports for workers compensation legal matters and insurance companies as needed.
Candidates must:
- Hold a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
- Demonstrate recent and comprehensive experience in General Practice.
- Have completed or be undertaking an Emergency Life Support course with skills experience and interest in Emergency Medicine.
- Be available to participate in an after-hours/on-call roster seven days a week.
