Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in communications marketing or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a K-12 education system is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of enrollment management principles including student recruitment and registration.
  • Experience developing and/or managing institution-wide processes or procedures.
  • Experience managing student records in as well as pulling and utilizing data from an enrollment-based student information system (SIS) with a clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
  • Proficiency using standard office technology applications (word processing database spreadsheets) with willingness to learn new technology as the need arises.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

  • Executive Director of Community Relations

Job Goal(s):

Performs the full range of professional duties required to support the Community Relations Department including the performance of complex and/or sensitive activities; may manage large-scale long-term projects; and performs related duties as required or assigned.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key point of contact for families throughout the registration and enrollment process providing a welcoming and inclusive experience.
  • Offer personalized support to new and returning families both in-person and virtually guiding them through online registration document submission and general enrollment questions.
  • Coordinate interpreter services and ensure accessible communication for families who speak languages other than English helping remove barriers to enrollment.
  • Support marketing and outreach efforts to promote the district and attract new families.
  • Provide enrollment and program information to prospective families; schedule school tours respond to inquiries and distribute promotional content highlighting offerings.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on district enrollment policies timelines and procedures offering support to school staff and administrators as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of clear engaging registration content across district websites and platforms.
  • Perform duties related to both enrollment operations and marketing functions as assigned to support district goals.
  • Perform the below job-specific tasks as part of fulfilling Position Responsibilities.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support all district-wide registration and enrollment events ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for families.
  • Manage review and verify required enrollment documentation including proof of residency immunization records and birth certificates.
  • Oversee Kindergarten and Preschool registration in collaboration with the Teaching & Learning and Community Relations departments.
  • Maintain and regularly update enrollment materials online registration platforms and district webpages to ensure clear and accessible information for families.
  • Develop strategies to increase student enrollment and retention including outreach efforts targeting prospective families within and beyond district boundaries.
  • Monitor enrollment trends and barriers; gather feedback from families to help inform continuous improvement in registration processes.
  • Collaborate with school administrators school-based staff counselors and district departments (e.g. transportation student services special education) to support smooth transitions and consistent communication for new families.
  • Coordinate the collection and processing of student records requests ensuring accuracy confidentiality and timely fulfillment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:

Year-Round Position - Salary and calendar year to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy of the Iowa City Community School District.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Districts policy on Evaluation State Statute and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
