In order to support the AirSense team Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Working Student within Software Engineering (d/f/m)

You are a full time student looking for a working student position and want to get to know the work of a real-time data streaming engineer (d/f/m) Then apply now! We look forward to you supporting us in the AirSense team as a working student (d/f/m) with approx. 18 hours a week!

• Start: November 2025

• Duration: 12 months

In this position you will join an experienced team of Cloud Software Engineers Data Analysts and Domain Experts in building novel approaches that tackle the challenge of real-time flight monitoring flight tracking and fleet management decision support solutions for air traffic operations.

Definition working student

Working students are students who are enrolled at a University or some other institution of higher education and who are employed in a reasonably long fixed-term position parallel to their studies. This position must not be confused with an internship or with the possibility of writing a final thesis.

This employment usually takes place directly on the companys premises. A working students main focus remains on their studies which is why during term-time working students are not allowed to work more than 20 hours per week.

Working students therefore usually work near their place of study so as to conveniently combine studying and employment.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Familiarize with available aviation datasets to create modern reliable flight data real-time streaming pipelines delivering several Airbus projects and activities.

• Increase the robustness of our data pipelines with advanced disruption management algorithms under different disruption scenarios such as data supplier outage and subsequent recovery stage AirSense underlying data pipeline infrastructure outages etc.

• Implement product features as per defined requirements answering business needs

• Test and validate implementation and results from our transformation data pipelines.

Desired skills and qualifications

• Enrolled Full-time student (d/f/m) within Software Engineering or Computer Science

• Experience with at least one or more of of Python Java or Rust

• Experience with reliable software solutions with continuous delivery processes (CI/CD best-practices in software development etc.)

• Bachelors degree in computer science. Engineering mathematics and physics disciplines will also be considered based on software development background

• Ability to think autonomously and solution-oriented mindset

• English fluent skills
