About this Position:
The position for the Engineer 6 DCL serves as the Program and Project Manager with administrative and technical responsibilities for two federal aid safety programs: the Local Road Safety Program (LRSP) and the Safe Routes to Public Places Program (SRTPPP).

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus one of the following:

Two years of licensed engineering experience; or

Six years of professional engineering experience.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONS:
A masters degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience.

A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience.

Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of professional engineering experience.

There is no substitution for licensed engineering experience.

NOTES:
Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience.

Engineering experience gained after earning an ABET-accredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineers license (e.g. as an engineer intern applicant engineer intern or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience.

Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana. If one of those applicants is selected for the position he/she will be required to obtain a Louisiana license prior to appointment. The hiring agency will verify that all licensing requirements are met.

Louisiana Professional Engineer licenses are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at .

1. Two years of licensed engineering experience in program or project management highway safety and/or transportation planning.
2. Six years of professional engineering experience in program or project management highway safety and/or transportation planning.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Oversees identification prioritization development and delivery of LRSP and SRTPPP projects.
Develops and provides recommendations relative to HSIP project funding and budget allocations for LRSP & SRTPPP.
Monitors and tracks LRSP and SRTPPP letting schedules and budgets.
Provides functional supervision over LRSP and SRTPP Program Support consultant and provides technical support for project management duties.
Responsible for SRTPP Program Guidelines and Project Application.
Provides assistance to LTAP for establishing LRSP Guidelines and Project Application.
Performs project management duties for LRSP and SRTPPP projects as needed and coordinates reviews with other sections of DOTD.
Develops and/or updates agreements including entity-state agreements memorandum of understandings and funding allocation tables.
Manages consultant retainer contracts and task orders for LRSP and SRTPPP design and CEI services.
Assists with DOTD LPA policies outreach and training.

SUPPLEMENTAL QUALIFICATION:
1. Two years of licensed engineering experience in program or project management highway safety and/or transportation planning.
2. Six years of professional engineering experience in program or project management highway safety and/or transportation planning.


Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type:This position may be filled as either a probational appointment promotion or by detail to special duty.

Compensation:There is a biweekly Special Entry Rate of $3316.00 for this position. The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.
