DEQ has an open opportunity for a Marine Fisheries License Clerk.

It is full-time (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

This License Clerkwill issue and renew commercial and for-hire fishing licenses and permits through the Divisions Fisheries Information Network (FIN). This position will also issue and renew hunting and fishing licenses vessel registrations and recreational commercial gear licenses through the Wildlife Resource Commission (WRC) GoOutdoorsNorthCarolina internet sales program. This position is the first point of contact to the public providing customer service and determining customer needs interpreting rules and regulations and relaying them to the public. This position involves a wide range of administrative and accounting functions where attention to detail is necessary. Overtime may be required during peak sales. There will be minimal travel for training and assisting at other offices as needed occasional overnight stays may be required during that time. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

The Division of Marine Fisheries

The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) is responsible for the stewardship of the states marine and estuarine resources. The DMFs jurisdiction encompasses all coastal waters and extends to 3 miles offshore. Agency policies are established by the nine-member Marine Fisheries Commission and the Secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality. North Carolina is a member of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council and the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
