DEQ has an open opportunity for a Marine Fisheries License Clerk.

This License Clerkwill issue and renew commercial and for-hire fishing licenses and permits through the Divisions Fisheries Information Network (FIN). This position will also issue and renew hunting and fishing licenses vessel registrations and recreational commercial gear licenses through the Wildlife Resource Commission (WRC) GoOutdoorsNorthCarolina internet sales program. This position is the first point of contact to the public providing customer service and determining customer needs interpreting rules and regulations and relaying them to the public. This position involves a wide range of administrative and accounting functions where attention to detail is necessary. Overtime may be required during peak sales. There will be minimal travel for training and assisting at other offices as needed occasional overnight stays may be required during that time. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service and sell products to the public
- Receive revenue generated from license sales complete proper revenue accounting forms deposit monies and report to the Department Controller and Division Accounting Clerk daily
- Remain informed on the latest rules and regulations to accurately relay information to the public
- Accurately maintain detailed records utilizing paper files and electronic documents
- Edit license data for quality control and generate statistical reports on license sales
- Multitasking and organizational skills to complete multiple projects in an efficient and timely manner
The Division of Marine Fisheries
The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) is responsible for the stewardship of the states marine and estuarine resources. The DMFs jurisdiction encompasses all coastal waters and extends to 3 miles offshore. Agency policies are established by the nine-member Marine Fisheries Commission and the Secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality. North Carolina is a member of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council and the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
