Position Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer plays a key role in the development of RoBATs advanced machinery. This position offers a unique opportunity to grow mechanical design expertise while contributing to the full product development lifecycle-from concept through to manufacture. Working in a dynamic and collaborative environment the Mechanical Design Engineer supports the creation of innovative high-performance solutions that meet the evolving needs of our global customer base.

Key Responsibilities

• Supports the Head of Mechanical Design and Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in the design and development of complex machinery
• Participates in all stages of mechanical design including concept generation prototyping detailed design and transition to manufacturing
• Ensures design outputs are accurate complete and delivered on time with a strong focus on quality and innovation
• Applies creative problem-solving skills to develop novel mechanical solutions that meet performance cost and manufacturability requirements
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams including Electrical Engineering Software and Production to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems
• Prepares and maintains detailed 3D CAD models drawings and documentation using Autodesk Inventor and Vault
• Supports the management of CAD data revision control and engineering change processes
• Provides hands-on support during prototype builds testing and troubleshooting
• Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and shares best practices in mechanical design
• May be required to travel internationally to support customer installations and product deployments

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a mechanical design role preferably in machinery or automation
• Proficiency in 3D parametric modeling software (Autodesk inventor preferred)
• Experience with CAD data management and revision control systems (Vault preferred)
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly hand tools and workshop equipment
• Exposure to robotics automation and motion systems Is highly desirable
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access Excel and 2D CAD tools
• Experience with CAM software and metalworking machinery (e.g. milling turning) is a plus
• Must be eligible to work in the UK
• Willingness to travel internationally as needed (most customers are locate outside the UK/Europe)
