Are you an environmental or renewable energy professional developer consultant planner scientist or engineer who is looking to progress your career in a dynamic and rewarding role in the renewable energy sector

Our Energy Assessments team within the NSW Planning group are seeking to appoint Environmental Assessment Officers to contribute to the NSW Governments assessment and regulation of high-profile projects across the renewable energy sector. This dynamic team works on large scale wind farms solar farms transmission lines pumped hydro and batteries (BESS) across NSW.

About the role

Development assessment is exciting challenging and fulfilling. We are looking for planning assessment professionals who can deliver high quality efficient and timely assessment advice to ensure State significant projects meet all statutory obligations Government policy requirements and Government goals.

As an Environmental Assessment Officer you will assess the merits of a range of State significant energy projects in line with best practice frameworks and benchmark assessment outcome turnaround times and produce high quality work on a wide range of planning matters including the preparation of well written accurate and timely reports and effective conditions of consent.

What you will bring to the role

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to effectively convey ideas and collaborate with team members and prepare high quality reports and other documentation. You will have the ability to translate complex technical information into easy to understand material.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to navigate complex challenges and adapt to evolving situations.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement skills fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment with diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant environmental assessment and planning legislation and processes.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement negotiation and project management.

Essential requirements

  • Degree in environmental science or management planning engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Willingness to travel and (minimum) Class C Drivers License
