Location
Based at one of our production facilities (e.g. Fort Dodge IA or Gilmore City IA) with potential support for nearby sites as needed. Travel to the Ames headquarters will be required for coordination and training.
Position Summary & Purpose
As part of our continued investment in people and operations Calcium Products is hiring a plant-based HR Generalist to support employees at one or more of our production facilities. Reporting to the HR Manager this position will be embedded in daily operationsserving as the first point of contact for HR matters and helping ensure a consistent supportive work environment.
The HR Generalist will provide hands-on support across a range of HR activities including employee relations onboarding compliance documentation and day-to-day support for both hourly and salaried employees. While based at a primary facility this role may also provide HR support to nearby locations depending on business needs and site configuration.
This is a highly visible on-site role that builds local trust resolves issues promptly and reinforces company values on the ground. Travel to the Ames headquarters will be required to participate in coordination meetings company initiatives and training efforts.
Key Responsibilities
1) Employee Support & Engagement
Provide day-to-day HR support for both hourly and salaried employees at the assigned plant(s).
Serve as a consistent approachable HR presence on-site.
Support early tenure success by partnering with supervisors and new employees during onboarding.
Help maintain a positive and productive work environment through regular engagement with plant teams.
2) Policy & Compliance Execution
Assist with policy communication and ensure consistent application of HR practices.
Support documentation and investigation of employee relations issues escalating as needed.
Maintain accurate personnel records and assist with audits leave tracking and compliance reporting.
Monitor site-level compliance with postings training and regulatory documentation.
3) HR Operations & Administration
Help with benefit-related questions and annual enrollment processes.
Coordinate with payroll and accounting to support accurate employee records.
Enter and verify data in HR systems to ensure clean reporting and audit readiness.
Assist with HR reports attendance tracking and other workforce metrics.
4) Cross-Site & Departmental Coordination
As needed support nearby facilities in collaboration with the HR Manager.
Participate in periodic HR team meetings and share observations from plant-level engagement.
Help promote consistency in HR practices while adapting to local site dynamics.
Education Skills & Experience
Required
Associate or Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business or related field.
25 years of HR experience ideally in a manufacturing or plant-based environment.
Solid working knowledge of employment laws and HR operations.
Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
Comfortable working independently in a plant setting and managing confidential information.
Preferred
HR certification (PHR or SHRM-CP).
Experience supporting hourly employees and frontline supervisors.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
