This Information Technology (IT) technical position reflects an exclusive MS SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) position with strong proficiency also in Windows (not Mainframe) who can potentially cover additional roles including:
The Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) MS SQL SERVER Database Administrator (DBA) will provide substantial MS SQL Server database support skills toward overall Production and Non-Production database support activities including installations configurations upgrades performance tuning backups and disaster recovery (DR) regular maintenance jobs encryption and troubleshooting. This Production MS SQL Server DBA position will also encompass some degree of support and testing in pre-production environments. This MS SQL Server DBA position might require future participation (i.e. weekends) in a Production MS SQL Server DBA after-hours on-call rotation schedule and would also cover weekends and holidays. This MS SQL Server DBA position will require some degree of APAC morning shift rotation with a contrasting APAC afternoon shift (to be determined). This position will require the ability to upgrade from several levels of back versions of each MS SQL Server database. Specific MS SQL Server database versions includeSQL Server 2008 R2 and above (with all manner of upgrades from MS SQL Server 2005 and below). Due to the majority of the production operation running on Windows Clusters and VM Virtual Machines the candidate should possess these specific skill addition a higher skill set of DTS/SSIS and Windows command line and programming is essential (not Windows not Mainframe).
The successful Production MS SQL Server DBA candidate should also be able to strategize collaborate and participate in various monitoring performance and analysis tasks with the goal of performance optimizations and retention of the corresponding historical monitoring metrics and statistics. As part of performance improvements the MS SQL Server DBA may also review SQL queries written by software developers for performance enhancements.
This position is an MS SQL Server Production DBA (Database Administrator) role. However some Development DBA work may also be required. For technical specifics please see the details in the Description - Internalsection. The successful candidate must have an extensive working knowledge of Windows include command line along with an automation mindset and practice. Additionally SQL programming background is a very valuable asset. Due to acquisitions and consolidations Data Management practices will be part of the Production DBA role. The ideal candidate would also have some travel Business Knowledge.
Travel itself would be less than 5%. This position is not a telecommuting position and relocation is not available. However after tenure and candidate work evaluations telecommuting may be offered without any statement of long term commitment.
