The key objective is to support efforts to conduct mobility research for paving the way for Singapores future land transport system.
Key Job purpose
Research into application of classical flow theories in modelling a heterogeneous mix of human-driven vehicles (HVs) and connected & autonomous vehicles (CAVs). Scope covers analytical modelling large-scale simulation and data-driven analysis and quantify how platoon intensity coordination protocols and V2V communication influence congestion throughput and network resilience. Insights shall be distilled into clear evidence-based recommendations to guide Singapores transition toward a safer more efficient and sustainable mixed-traffic future.
Key Responsibilities:
Extend and adapt classical traffic-flow frameworks to embed CAV cooperative control V2V communication and platoon formation within mixed HVCAV environments.
Design and execute large-scale simulations in Python/MATLAB using SUMO or Vissim; build automated pipelines for parameter sweeps and model calibration.
Deploy YOLOv8 DeepSORT on UAV/CCTV video feeds to extract real-world vehicle trajectories; use these datasets to validate and refine your mixed-traffic models.
Quantitatively assess how platoon intensity and coordination protocols affect congestion throughput and safety; translate findings into high-impact publications policy briefs and student mentorship.
Publish technical findings in top-tier journals.
Job Requirements:
Master in Transportation Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
Proficient in Python/MATLAB and experienced with traffic simulators (SUMO/VISSIM).
Peer-reviewed publications in CAV/traffic modelling computer vision or reinforcement learning.
Hands-on with YOLOv8 DeepSORT and RL platforms (e.g. FLOW) for traffic control.
Excellent English communication- essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
Strong teamwork under deadlines; grant writing experience is a plus.
