Job Description
Afterschool Counselor
Location: Staten Island Hebrew Public (829 Father Capodanno Blvd Staten Island NY 10305)
Start Date: Summer 2025
Hours: Monday-Friday 2:45PM-6PM
Compensation: $18 per hour

Whats the role
We are seeking a driven Afterschool Counselor that operates with a high sense of urgency and possesses a strong work ethic. Candidates for this position do NOT need to speak Hebrew.
What youll do
- Lead and supervise students in a variety of activities including arts and crafts sports homework assistance and enrichment projects.
- Design and implement age-appropriate activities that foster creativity teamwork and learning.
- Maintain a safe positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Monitor student behavior provide guidance and address any challenges with care and professionalism.
- Work closely with other afterschool staff to ensure a cohesive and well-organized program.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians sharing updates on student participation and progress as needed.
- Track attendance and maintain accurate records of student activities.
- Follow school policies and procedures to ensure a secure and compliant program.
Who you are
- High School Diploma from an accredited institution is required;
- Elementary and/or Middle School teaching experience preferred
- Hold NYS certification in content area or working towards certification is preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Legally authorized to work in the USA
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
