Hennepin County District Court invites qualified applicants for a Court Operations Associate position assigned in the Jury Division.
The Jury Office is dedicated to providing a high level of customer service to the citizens who make up the jury pool as well as to the judges to whom the jurors will ultimately be assigned for a case. These are highly visible positions that are responsible for professionally facilitating the experience of up to 600 citizens summonsed for jury duty per week. Court Operations Associates in the Jury Office must respond appropriately to requests from judges court staff and potential jurors while striving to provide exceptional customer service at all times.
This AFSCME-represented position is assigned to the Jury Division in court administration located in the court tower of the Hennepin County Government Center (24th floor suite 2490). Typical hours for this position are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday with some flexibility based on business needs. This position will work primarily onsite with the occasional option to work remotely according to business need.
The expected starting salary range for external candidates is $20.43 (range minimum) - $27.42 (range midpoint) per hour ($42657.00 - $57252.00 annually). The full salary range for this position is $20.43 (range minimum) - $34.41 (range maximum) per hour ($42657.00 - $71848.00 annually). This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.
Example of Duties
- Address and manage groups of 150-200 jurors on a regular basis; use an orientation script and answer questions from the audience.
- Process the intake of jury members both in-person and over the phone including on-call status excusing or deferring potential jurors.
- Provide customer service by assisting potentials jurors to understand the jury process and communicate their responsibilities.
- Communicate with judges and judicial staff to coordinate and fulfill juror needs for court.
- Coordinate communicate and collaborate with team members to ensure daily work assignments are completed efficiently and accurately.
- Complete administrative work by creating cases creating juror lists maintaining records for juror payments maintaining jury utilization and financial statistics and other related records.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience providing customer service
- One year of data entry experience

- Demonstrated skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service including the ability to de-escalate difficult customer interactions.
- Ability to address and direct large groups of people to facilitate business activities.
- Ability to work in a high-volume fast paced environment.

- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate record keeping.

Preferred Qualifications
- Two years or more of customer experience.
- Experience speaking to large groups.
- Experience training others within a team.
