Since 2007 ZemiTek has provided technical assistance project management information technology (IT) knowledge management monitoring and evaluation training and learning development and institutional support services.

Position Description

USAID promotes democratic values advances global peace and prosperity and delivers international development and disaster assistance worldwide. The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) serves as the Agencys Chief Legal Office providing advice on legislative administrative and program matters. OGC represents USAID in legal matters including administrative and litigation congressional investigations and interagency legal coordination.

The Paralegal performs a variety of legal administrative tasks to support the attorneys or litigation teams. The Paralegal analyzes the legal impact of legislative developments and administrative and judicial decisions opinions determinations and rulings. He/She conducts research for the preparation of legal opinions on matters of interest and performs substantive legal analysis of requests for information under the provisions of various acts. The incumbent performs other similar legal support functions which require discretion and independent judgment in the application of specialized knowledge of laws precedent decisions regulations agency policies and judicial or administrative proceedings.

Salary Range:
$94199.00 - $117627.51annually (starting salary determined based on candidates knowledge skills experience and education)
Clearance:Ability to obtain a Secret clearance; Active Secret clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced level support and assistance to attorneys handling administrative and federal litigation throughout the life of a case;
  • Reviews case materials to become familiar with questions under consideration;
  • Searches for and summarizes relevant articles in trade magazines law reviews published studies financial reports and similar materials for use of attorneys in the preparation of opinions briefs and other legal documents;
  • Prepares summary interview reports for the attorneys review;
  • Reviews legal documents to extract selected data and information relating to specific case;
  • Searches and extracts legal references in libraries and computerized data banks;
  • Reviews case materials to become familiar with questions under consideration;
  • Verifies citations and legal references on prepared legal documents;
  • Drafts and edits non-legal memoranda research reports and correspondence relating to case;
  • Verifies citations and legal references on prepared legal documents; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced level of proficiency in the use of Google Applications and Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Power Point);

  • Ability to efficiently multitask and prioritize workload accordingly;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and interact with people at all management and support levels; and
  • U.S. citizen eligible to obtain a secret level security clearance.

Education

  • Masters or Bachelors Degree in Law or related field and six (6) years of relevant experience or a Paralegal certificate from an accredited institution and six (6) years of relevant experience.
