The primary purpose of this position is to provide mental health services for juveniles assigned to a Youth Development Center and/or Juvenile Detention Center. These services include but are not limited to mental status examinations diagnostic evaluations and behavioral assessments behavioral programming individual and group psychotherapy crisis intervention and direct counseling services at an advanced level. Will provide training as needed.
The position is responsible for providing the following services in Juvenile Justice facilities as assigned:
New Admission Screening and Evaluation: Perform evidence-based mental health screening for assigned new admissions.
Document completion of the screening in NC-JOIN.
Complete a clinical interview and mental status exam.
Complete a mental health evaluation report.
Document results in the Mental Health Practice Management System.
Mental Health Treatment: Complete a mental health treatment plan for each assigned new admission.
Criminogenic Needs Identification and Targeting: Identify prominent dynamic factors that affect the youth risk for recidivism within 30 days of admission.
Training/Continuing Education: Provide Training to staff as needed attend continuing education seminars/workshop commensurate with scope and requirements of professional practice complete required trainings in DPS Learning Management System

Masters degree in psychology clinical social work marriage and family therapy clinical counseling or human services related field from an appropriately accredited educational institution.
Necessary Special Qualification Requirements Must hold an independent license to practice as a mental health clinical practitioner in North Carolina or have met the requirements to be licensed in North Carolina at the associate or provisional level as a mental health clinical practitioner.
