About the Project
Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) is an internationally operating nature conservation organisation based in Germany supporting conservation projects in Africa South America Southeast Asia and Europe for many decades. Guided by our mission to conserve wildlife and ecosystems we focus on protected areas and outstanding wild South America FZS concentrates its efforts on the Amazon rainforest and has expanded its engagement in the region in recent years aimingto increase its impact on this globally important biome and all associated biodiversity. Established in 2024 FZS Brazil (FZSB) is in its first year of operation working in close partnership with ICMBio in focal areas such as the Pico da Neblina National Park Serra do Divisor National Park and Juami Japur Ecological Station. We are seeking aFinance & Administration Coordinatorwith a passion for nature to lead the development of our administrative financial and HR systems ensuring compliance with Brazilian legislation and FZS global standards while supporting the growth of our operation in the long-term conservation of the Amazon in Brazil.
The position will be based in Manaus Brazil.
Your Tasks
- Develop implement and periodically review financial and procurement policies systems and processes ensuring compliance with Brazilian regulations audit requirements and FZS global procedures
- Ensure the organization accuracy and compliance of FZSBs accounts
- Work with the team to design and maintain efficient workflows and procedures for good administrative budgetary and operational management
- Develop and oversee the implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Support the recruitment processes for local and international staff and consultants ensuring compliance with all legal taxation and social security labour requirements
- Support the annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes for FZSBs programs in close collaboration with the Country Coordinator and FZS Germany
- Monitor and close financial execution of activities and projects
- Prepare accurate financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Support the Country Coordinator in managing and maintaining all required insurances registrations permits and operational licenses for FZSBs continued operation
Your Profile
- Masters degree or postgraduate qualification in Finance Accounting Business Administration Management or related field
- At least five years of professional experience in administration accounting and finance preferably in complex or multi-project environments
- Sound knowledge of Brazilian HR functions labour law taxation and social security regulations
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools and accounting platforms
- Advanced English ability to collaborate effectively with international colleagues
- Highly detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and structure work effectively
- Working experience in Amazon nature conservation projects with indigenous peoples or in an NGO will be an asset
- Residence in Manaus (AM)
