About the Role
Were looking for compassionate and resilient people to join our team in a residential home for Children and Young People who have faced significant challenges in life.
In this role youll create a safe and supportive environment help young people develop practical life skills encourage positive routines and support them to reconnect with school community and culture.
Youll need experience working with young people a good understanding of the effects of trauma and the ability to respond calmly to challenging behaviours.

KeyResponsibilities
- Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in Individual Case Plans
- Assist young people to develop independence and build community networks
- Support the young persons interests
- Establish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomes
- Manage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionally
- Domestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves eg cooking housework laundry
- Communicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
- Medication administration (when required)
- Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping
Skills & Experience
- Minimum qualification level - Certificate IV in Youth Work Mental Health or relevant qualification
- Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect including the management of behaviours of concern
- Ability to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
- Demonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundaries
- Experience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgrounds
- A current Provide First Aid (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011) Certificate
- A current Drivers Licence
Additionally experience with behavioural management approaches including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) positive behaviour support trauma and attachment Sanctuary or CARE residential models will be highly regarded
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check Department of Communities Check and Working with Children Check.
