Yellowstone Clubs Facilities department is seeking candidates for a Director of Engineering. This is a full-time year-round position located in Big Sky Montana.
The Director of Engineerings purposeis to oversee and optimize the operations and maintenance of all Club systems ensuring efficiency safety and reliability while leading and empowering the mechanical team to execute projects manage preventative maintenance and contribute to the long-term strategic planning and budgeting of facility needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure all Club systems are operational and plan ahead for future failures.
- Assign work orders and preventative maintenance items to crews using CMMS application.
- Develop project scopes and estimates for approvals.
- Execute projects within given timelines and budgets
- Analyze current equipment for replacement timelines. Create estimates of equipment replacements
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for all assets
- Follow company safety policies and implementation of new safety polices for the department
Supervision & Management:
- Oversee daily activities of the mechanical staff.
- Manage crews to complete preventative maintenance promptly
- Empower crew members to make informed decisions and use these moments as learning opportunities. Avoid micromanagement where possible.
- Train crew leads and supervisors on building systems to ensure they can handle day-to-day operations effectively.
- Ensure supervisors can manage all crew workloads and preventative maintenance tasks.
Systems & Maintenance:
- General understating of mechanical systems including but limited to large boiler plants large chiller plants heating and chilled water system loops lighting control fire suppression fire alarm underground storage tanks diesel generators and building automation.
- Understanding of commercial kitchen equipment and restaurant operation.
- Update CMMS with new buildings and preventative maintenance items.
- Regularly review and adjust preventative maintenance timelines as necessary.
- Ensure all time and materials are accurately logged in CMMS
- Tag projects that involve loss damage or tasks outside of our scope especially if they are billable.
- Ensure on-hand materials are in stock and order as needed.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Collaborate with the VP on time-off approvals and crew schedules.
- Assist the VP in planning for future crew needs.
- Work with the weekend crew to solve problems independently or with the supervisors guidance.
Recruitment & Development:
- Hire mechanical staff as needed employing creative strategies to find suitable candidates.
- Train managers and supervisors to understand the scope and expectations of the facilities team.
- Continually improve people management skills with an empathetic approach to team needs.
Budgeting & Project Management:
- Develop mechanical budgets for the Mountain Clubs capital expenditure (CapEx) projects and plan their execution while collaborating with the VP.
- Develop and maintain a living document of five-year project needs and track them on the CapEx sheet for future budgeting.
- Track time by building on preventive maintenance items to review with the VP for accurate budgeting
- Track all employees entered work orders and costs using tags for different departments and locations.
Communication & Leadership:
- Communicate regularly with the VP to ensure support for major needs
- Guide the maintenance team without micromanaging. Offer input when necessary ensuring it is constructive and helpful.
- Empower employees to learn from their decisions fostering growth through opportunities for improvement.
- Build lasting relationships with subcontractors.
Strategic Planning & Improvement:
- Develop invoicing processes for departmental billing of work outside the scope.
- Hire and build a mechanical crew that aligns with club needs.
- Understand market labor pricing to optimize hiring practices using specific examples for better decision-making.
Leadership & Support:
- Lead by example offering support and direction to staff without performing the tasks directly.
- Build relationships with managers and supervisors to address their needs and enhance team performance.
- Avoid micromanagement of project aspects while guiding in a supportive manner.
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree preferred
- 10 or more years of facility management experience with 3 years in a director role
- Work on large campuses or buildings over 500000SF
