THE ROLE & THE TEAM
Zalandos latest and greatest team (Echo) is being created within the Search and Browse - Experience department responsible for an assortment of business-critical functionalities relating to Zalandos Search and Category pages. Team Echo will be working exclusively on our high-profile Inspiration and Entertainment programme of work actively looking to engage and inspire Zalandos 50 million customers across 25 countries on their online shopping journey.
Weve recently taken the exciting decision to open an office in Shenzhen China. The new team (Echo) will be the backbone ensuring our established European teams and our new Asian teams collaborate and work effectively together. As a team we aim to move fast whilst always ensuring Operational Excellence is at the forefront of our mind.
In this particular role you would be working as part of a team consisting of 5 engineers split across both web and mobile platforms led by an Engineering Manager. Your core responsibility will be ensuring efficient and quality engineering between Shenzhen and our already established European Android team and codebase to include but not limited to: ways of working technology selection and production ownership. As the Echo Team is in its infancy you may be involved in helping to hire and establish the team.
Were very excited about this new venture within Zalando and are looking for a motivated individual with relevant experience to come in and drive this area forward.
WHAT WED LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
You will help establish a new team in the business potentially including hiring involvement.
You will support and contribute to a diverse team of 5 engineers while ensuring smooth delivery and continuous improvements to business critical systems.
You will help establish effective ways of working and efficient code contribution methods between Asian and European engineering teams.
You will support and drive architectural and design decisions in the team contribute to the priorities and advise on technology selection.
You will ensure operational excellence is paramount in our approach to engineering.
You will help advise on Search and Browse - Experience priorities providing an engineering input into Product requirements.
Act like an owner by taking up a challenge work towards reducing ambiguity and break the work down into manageable tasks for the team.
Share and develop your expertise with your team to deliver the best user experience to our customers.
WED LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You have experience with JavaScript (React Typescript)
You have experience with React Native libraries like Redux React Navigation and Axios.
You have experience building cross-platform mobile apps integrating React Native with native modules when necessary.
You have experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps.
You have strong experience with Monitoring and Observability.
You write clean maintainable code with tests and take ownership of your work.
With experience in high-performing teams you can lead technical discussions and drive decisions independently.
You possess excellent communication skills in English and can articulate complex technical topics and solutions clearly and concisely.
Bonus Skills:
You have a proven track record of shipping cross-platform code.
You are familiar with TypeScript for React projects.
You have experience working with Kubernetes.
You have experience working in teams across differing time zones.
You have experience in the E-commerce industry.
