Essential Functions and Duties:
- Oversee the establishment and implementation of 6-12 music theater arts and dance curriculum.
- Recommends 6-12 music curriculum changes to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for presentation to and adoption by the School Board.
- Provide services for in-school music theatre and dance programs.
- Coordinates concerts and performance opportunities (music festivals student showcases master classes clinics etc.) and field experience in 6-12 performing arts.
- Coordinates professional development for 6-12 music theater and dance teachers.
- Coordinates opportunities for student professional development.
- Enforce local state and national arts standards.
- Manage and maintain district equipment related to 6-12 Performing Arts (Establish Inventory System).
- Actively involved in Instructional staff observations.
- Establish and Maintain relationships and partnerships with arts and community organizations.
- Consults with Central Office and Building Principals on the Fine Arts Budget and its use.
- Serves as liaison for 6-12 music staff in communication with the School Board Superintendent and Central Office staff.
- Consults with Principals on interviewing recommendations and hiring of 6-12 music educators.
- Works with Principals/Central Office Administration to recruit and maintain certified music educators.
Qualifications:
- No District Coordinator position can be held by a teacher who does not have specific teacher certification for the specific content area. (i.e. Performing Arts Coordinator must have Music certification).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or
- Exerts 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or
- Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
- Sufficient vision to read printed material see distant objects with clarity and identify and distinguish objects.
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone and hear sounds clearly up to 20 feet. Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone and in addressing groups.
- Requires occasional or frequent standing walking sitting bending and reaching for extended periods of time.
- The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and is generally a hazard free environment.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
Salary: $5000 stipend
