Job Description

Position Summary

The Assessment Specialist coordinates and oversees all day-to-day aspects of administering a range of testing activities conducted College-wide in designated testing areas and computer testing labs. Listed below are the primary responsibilities for this position; however the Associate Dean of Students and his/her designee may assign other professional duties to meet the Colleges needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keeps the contractual obligation by understanding and upholding the policies of the GED Testing Services/Pearson VUE policies procedures standards and guidelines.
  • Coordinates standardized group and/or individual test administration; administers and/or coordinates admissions credentials/certification and vocational aptitude/interest testing.
  • Administer a range of standardized tests including but not limited to: GED TABE ACT Work keys ACT etc.
  • Follow all GED/Pearson VUE ISTC testing program policies procedures and schedules and ensure adequate staffing for the administration of examinations.
  • Order and maintain the administration of tests by test administrators and proctors; ensure test instructions are accurate and that appropriate testing environments are maintained.
  • Ensures that test results are fairly and accurately scored utilizing automated or manual processes configures and operates test scoring scanners and sets up and maintains computerized test score tracking systems and databases.
  • Provides routine reports reviews information and advisement to the GED Chief Examiner.
  • Keeps informed of advancing technology in standardized test administration computer-based testing machine scoring and associated software.
  • Maintains and reviews all test logs testing session reports test incident reports and other documentation
  • Schedules and publicizes testing sessions throughout the year.
  • Verifies the identity and eligibility of testing candidates; checks in examinees explains the exam process and monitors examinees while testing.
  • Controls GED testing sessions by following all GED/Pearson VUE and ISTC standards for conducting a testing session under normal conditions or with accommodations.
  • Communicates with internal (Pearson VUE) departments to investigate and fix technical issues
  • Handling personal or confidential information.
  • Maintains a valid Alabama drivers license and is eligible for College automotive insurance coverage.
  • Must be willing to travel to other locations as needed.
  • Must be eligible to enter any/all Department of Corrections (DOC) Federal Correctional Institutions (FCI) and Pardons & Paroles Facilities to perform the job duties and maintain this status for continued employment.
  • Possesses an understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical college.
  • Possesses a sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Complies with any applicable guidelines and policies set forth by the Alabama Community College System and J. F. Ingram State Technical College.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficient in Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proficient in the general use of computers and other office equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make independent judgments problem-solving provide leadership and work with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent organizational skills be attentive to detail and can prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Willing to be flexible with work schedule as workload dictates.
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality and professional integrity.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others internal and external to the College.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • An associates degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with a clear driving record.
  • Must be willing to travel across the assigned Alabama region.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
PREFERRED:
  • A bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of experience in teaching training counseling or testing.

Salary Range: Salary will be determined by placement on the appropriate Alabama Community College System-approved salary schedule. E3 03 ($45220 - $62710)
