Job Description

If you love the outdoors with the bush and beach right at your back door this is an outstanding opportunity to live on Stewart Island and join the PowerNet Field Team West in the exciting and rewarding role of Team Leader Technical (Stewart Island) based at the Stewart Island Power Station.

The Stewart Island Power Station is unique on our network. As the Team Leader you will report to the Technical Supervisor and be responsible for leading a team of Electricians Line Mechanics and Apprentices. As a team you will undertake:

  • Regular maintenance and monitoring of the diesel generator sets
  • Construction and maintenance of the overhead and underground distribution network
  • Maintain the station buildings street lighting and metering
  • Liaison with our customers including new customer connections
  • Participate on the fault response roster

This requires excellent people leadership project planning and proven work delivery skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic challenging industry thats critical to New Zealands future while living in southern New Zealand. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday plus overtime and rostered on call.

About You Skills and Experience

You will be a highly motivated individual who has a pragmatic flexible and adaptable team approach along with the passion to grow and develop at PowerNet.

Were looking for someone who:

  • Is a natural leader of people who understands the benefits of great leadership.
  • Holds a National Certificate in Electrical Supply Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Has a current EWRB electrical registration and practicing licence.
  • Has at least 5 years recent experience in the electrical distribution industry
  • Is innovative and capable of using new technology to improve the way things are done.
  • Is competent to hold a PowerNet Network Access criteria (NAC)
  • Demonstrates good working relationships with other team members customers and contractors.
  • Holds a current class 1 drivers licence.
  • Has a current working knowledge of the industrys safety regulations.
