Media and Communications Advisor Local Government Western Sydney
Are you passionate about shaping impactful communications and building meaningful connections ACM is thrilled to partner with a local government division in Western Sydney to recruit a Media and Communications Advisor for a 12-month contract commencing in March 2025.
This exciting role offers the chance to work with a progressive and collaborative Public Affairs team driving positive community engagement and enhancing the Councils public presence.
About the Role
As the Media and Communications Advisor youll provide expert day-to-day support and advice to the Mayor Deputy Mayor or Mayoral delegate helping them represent the Council and its community with confidence and clarity.
Youll be instrumental in:
- Preparing concise briefing materials and supporting media responses.
- Managing media strategies to enhance the Councils reputation.
- Supporting key stakeholders at events activities and media engagements.
- Ensuring smooth communication and collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
What Were Looking For
Youre a skilled communicator with a passion for public affairs and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Communications Journalism Political Science or a related field.
- Proven experience supporting executives elected officials or ministers with:
- Strategic and day-to-day communication needs.
- Preparing high-quality concise briefing materials.
- Expertise in media relations including crafting media releases and managing issues.
- A track record of managing competing priorities and negotiating with stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and implement media engagement strategies.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience working in Local Government.
- Background in media or a similar advisory role.
- A current Class C driver licence.
