Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The Colleges fifth president Dr. Mary Way Bolt reports directly to the Board of Trustees.
Cecil College is centrally located in Marylands most northeastern county just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore as well as from Wilmington Delaware.
With a diverse student population Cecil College enrolls approximately 2500 credit students and 3400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

JOB SUMMARY:
Faculty will be responsible for teaching Art Appreciation to Early College Academy students at Elkton High School on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 am to 9:20 am. This is a spring semester course that runs from mid January to early May. The teaching position involves the coordination planning preparation presentation and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Initial preparation guidance is available from College art faculty.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct assigned classes in accordance with the approved master course syllabus and stipulations of the department including but not limited to administering a final exam or culminating activity meeting all assigned class times and submitting attendance and grades as per college processes.
- Utilize the current College course management system. (See Learning Management System Policy)
- Establish post and maintain at least one-half hour before or after class meetings. Office time may be conducted virtually if necessary when before or after class meetings are not possible.
- Adhere to copyright laws provided on the library site for the college web portal.
- Regularly and routinely check Cecil College email accounts and respond in a timely manner to emails including those from the department chair administrative staff and students. Cecil College email must be used for all email communication with students and any college business.
- Participate in Cecil College Academic Monitoring.
- Submit any Incomplete Grade Contracts to the Administrative Assistants in Academic Programs.
- Support curriculum development in discipline and across college by preparing and revising necessary master course syllabi utilizing appropriate textbooks or additional course materials or preparing new master course syllabi and new programs as necessary.
- Support College-wide testing and actively encourage students to participate.
- Participate in course assessment and program reports as needed.
- Complete required Safe Colleges.
- Support the mission vision and values of the College and the policies of the Board of Trustees.
- Act in accordance with the letter and spirit of applicable laws College policies rules and expectations and the terms of the contract for the current academic year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Masters degree in Fine Arts or Art History or equivalent graduate credits; or Masters degree in Education or related course of study with a background or undergraduate degree in art.
- Successful secondary-level and/or college-level teaching experience in the related field. Only completed applications (resume letter of application portfolio and unofficial transcripts) will receive consideration. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Prior teaching experience in secondary education preferred or teaching experience in a college/university setting with a desire to work with secondary-level students in a college level course.
- Strong communication organizational interpersonal problem-solving and counseling skills.
- Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g. word processing e-mail database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms e.g. use of safe workplace practices with office equipment avoidance of trips and falls and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving

The Fiscal Year 2026 Credit Adjunct Scale is as follows: 2 semesters of less at Cecil ($830 a credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters60 or $855 a credit hour for individuals Masters60 or a Earned Doctorate); More than 2 semesters at Cecil ($855 a credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters60 or $880 a credit hour for individuals Masters60 or a Earned Doctorate).
